Girls cruise!!!

I just returned from an awesome trip.  It was fun but I left Jerry and the kids at home.  I missed them but it was fun to get away for a few days and just be with the girls.  My sister Sarah and my grandma had the idea that we should book a girl's cruise and we finally did, kind of as a celebration of my mom turning 50.  It was a Californian cruise and we had stops everyday.  We went to Santa Barbara, Catalina Island and then Ensenada.
This was on the day I came back.  The kids were so excited for the souvenirs I brought home with me, especially the capes from Mexico.

This was an awesome statue of a famous photo from WWII.  It is huge if you can't tell.
This is me in vacation mode on the ship.  You can see Ensenada behind me.
This appetizer looked so cool I had to take a picture.  I think it was a chicken curry salad and it tasted delicious.  I enjoyed the food a little too much!
This is a picture of my grandma and mom during our formal dining.

We took a cooking class in Mexico.  We were making salsa fresca and then we turned it into guacamole.

In Santa Barbara on top of a tower at the courthouse.
This pine tree is really cool.  We called it a lego tree.

The courthouse in Santa Barbara.  It was a really cool building.
I was standing in front of a fountain at the Santa Barbara mission.

We got to ride in a Mustang convertible to the ship.

Falling behind, but catching up today!

I usually get so busy that I it's hard to find time to update my family blog.  I haven't posted since Disneyland and my goal is to post at least once a month if I can.  I love pictures so I will do an update with tons of them.
I ran my first race of the year in March, it was just a 5K.  I feel more challenged with 10K's and would like to train for a half marathon someday.  It was still fun.  I love competing and I took 2nd overall for women.  I need to look into some races.  There are always tons happening around Utah when the weather gets nice.
Xander insisted that I take a picture of his "castle."  I love seeing the imagination and creativity starting to show in him.  He also likes telling us his own stories now.  I can't believe my first baby is turning 5 in July and then going to kindergarten this fall.  He is all signed up!
I haven't even posted about Easter and that happened a month ago!  We went on two Easter egg hunts.  Our local Smith's has an Easter party where they let the kids go searching for candy in the grocery store aisles.  We then drove up the the Dinosaur Park in Ogden where they got even more candy!

Lagoon opened on Easter weekend.  The weather was actually beautiful so we went for a couple weekends.  The weather then went really cold again but it's finally warming up, hopefully the warmth will continue!  I love temperatures in the 70's.

Disneyland 2013!!!

We just got back last week from a fun trip to Disneyland.  Jerry and I decided that we might try to go to Disneyland every 2 years.  We went back in 2011 when Wesley was only 9 months old.  This time both kids were old enough to get excited and really enjoy the experience.  Xander's favorite ride was Star Tours. I'm not sure what Wesley liked.  He seemed to enjoy one of my favorite rides, The Pirates of Caribbean.  We were able to do just about everything that we wanted to.  We visited the new Car's Land, Xander fought with Darth Vader in the Jedi Training academy, and we went on a ton of rides.  There were some things Wesley could not go on so we had to take some turns taking Xander on some rides.

Waiting in line to see Mickey
We took our bike stroller which turned out being very handy
Waiting in line to get into the park

Wesley has been telling me that he likes Goofy

The month of March is a special one for Jerry and I.  We officially became a couple this same month 10 years ago.  We got married on the 13th 9 years ago!  We will be celebrating our wedding anniversary next week.  We were supposed to go on a cruise paid for by Jerry's company, but that go cancelled by the cruise ship company themselves.  The ship we were supposed to sail on made headlines last month for being stranded out in the ocean.  They cancelled the next several cruises scheduled to be on that ship.  It might be a good thing not to go on that ship after all the problems we heard about it.  I'm just glad we had a chance to go on at least one fun vacation so far this year, even if it was a 10 hour drive to California and back!

The year so far

I didn't think I had much to post about until I saw all these pictures.  I can't believe we are already into February of 2013.  I hate to keep saying that time flies but it really truly does the older you get.  I'm just going to blog about every picture.
Xander can really crack us up sometimes.  He is to that age where imagination really takes over.  It's amazing what kind of stuff they come up with.  He put on this hat one day and told me that he was a character from some game.  Jeremiah lets him play games sometimes on his phone and our tablet devices.  We try to keep that limited but it definitely keeps him entertained and distracted so we can get stuff done.
Our house has not been immune from all the germs flying around this winter.  Poor Wesley has been dealing with some sickness.  He has wanted some extra cuddles.  This is me taking advantage of cuddle time.
Happy 33rd birthday to Jeremiah!  It's tough getting older but it has to happen.  If you aren't getting older it's probably because you are dead?  I have a favorite quote now that helps ease the pain of getting older, "Getting older is a privilege denied to many."  That quote is a great reminder to me that so many are taken from this life too soon and I have this chance to live my life and I feel like I have done so much and come so far.  Jeremiah has also come very far in his life.  I am proud of my husband and how much he does for us.  I know he has greatly exceeded the expectations of those whom he grew up with.  On his birthday we dropped the kids off at daycare so we could have a day date.  We got massages, I looked on horrified as Jeremiah ate a lobster for lunch and then we played like kids at Boondocks.  We have the whole laser tag room to ourselves twice!
 Up on a mountain snowboarding!!!
Gorgeous view from the mountain while snowboarding.

Some of these pictures are from a trip to Snowbasin.  I love to snowboard and Jeremiah snow skis.  We met my parents up at the resort.  We took the kids up in the gondola ski lift and they got to watch us go down the mountain.  It was a beautiful day to get some "skiboarding" done.  I would love to go more but it is so expensive.  We might try to go one more time before the season ends.
I made Wesley a Batman hat because he is obsessed with that super hero lately.  Xander was jealous so I had to crochet him a hat as well.  They look so cute as my two little Batmen!
We have had a lot of snow this winter.  I made the kids go outside and we had fun making snow angels.  It's so easy to get cabin fever!  I'm just counting down the weeks when winter will go away!

We have fun times ahead.  In less than 2 weeks we will be in Disneyland.  The month after that trip Jerry and I are flying to Texas to go on a cruise to Cozumel.  I can't wait for these fun trips!
